I have always been of the belief that anyone could get $25.00 worth of information in a year from joining our club. It is through memberships that we can afford to have such a nice nationally recognized website. If you are able to make it to one regular meeting in the year I assure you you will receive at least one free frag of coral that would more than cover your membership fee. We also have members that travel every month from as far as Ft. Smith. If you wanted you could even host a meeting at your house. I believe anyone in this hobby should have every reason to join. Just my opinion. If you are interested in seeing a sump in action, any member would be more than happy to let you come by and look. Just remember there are hundreds of ways to set up a sump depending on the use. Don't think I have ever seen a wrong one. You are welcome to visit me in Conway anytime, I have just finished my frag system build and would love to show it to you.

The time lapse footage is awesome. I didn't know we had a National Geographic cameraman in the club.

Thanks! I think someone said y'all might have a meeting in Searcy in November. I'll have to deposit some money in the bank this coming week, and then I think I'll join. Do y'all know the dates for the October, November, & December meetings? I have to ask off of work almost a month in advance, and I usually work Saturdays.

I'd for sure like to check out some sumps at one of these meetings before I try to build my own. I'd just like to see one actually running and working. It'll probably all make sense then. I'm also setting up a quarantine tank too. So after I get that, my sump, and lid built, I think I might want to build a frag tank. So it'd be neat to see.

    Thanks for the help!

Haha. Thanks. It's really hard to shoot corals, but I'm still learning. But if anyone has some really cool corals, maybe we can shoot a video of them.

Oct. 19, nov. 16, dec. 21. It will always be on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Great video, btw.

    Great time lapse!

As a new member I can vouch for everything Norman said. I've only been able to make two meetings so far and took home frags worth several times what my two year membership cost. Add to that, a bunch of guys that will answer your questions and give you quality advice from their experience That is something you can't put a price on when you consider how much it adds to your enjoyment of the hobby.

Thanks everybody. I'm going to see if I can talk my job into letting me off one Saturday a month. (I'm pretty sure that I can). And hopefully I can attend the October one. How do I go about paying for a membership?

It'd be nice to have friends in the hobby though. I also grow a lot of plants, and I'm always starting new plants off of old ones to give to friends. I figure I'd find the same enjoyment in doing that with corals too. But if anybody is interested in plants, I'm the guy to talk to. :)

I think you will be surprised to know how many people close to you have marine aquariums. Sometimes it's hard to find them though. The longer you are in it the more you will find. Jonesboro has a very nice store and I'm sure they could be of some help locating new people.

I think you are talking about "Reef Escapes?" The owner there is really nice & knowledgeable. Some of my favorite pieces in my tank are from there. I've tried finding people in the area, but the ones I've met are usually getting out of the hobby. I'm sure there are a lot in Jonesboro. Reef escapes stays busy.

Batesville does have a pet store. I wish some of you could visit it. It needs to be shutdown. I can't remember the name. I think it's called Batesville grooming. It's so filthy and full of junk. I've worked retail, & there is just little things you could do to really improve it. It's sad and I feel bad for the animals. The bird cages look like they are changed monthly. (I own finches, so that really bothers me). And just the products on the shelves are caked in dust. It literally looks like the place has been shut up for 20 years.

Sorry, I just had to rant about that. But it makes me really appreciate close pet stores like Reef Escapes & The Fish Bowl who run really good stores.

Here's my schedule. I don't know if there is any rhyme or reason to it, other than me just slowly increasing the times over several months while balancing the A & B channels out with what my eyes like. My corals seems to be growing good. I don't have any SPS though. (Just LPS & Softies). So I might would have to bump the A channel up more if I was growing SPS.

Here's video of my pulsing xenia. I know some people don't like this, b/c of it's weed-like nature, but maybe I'll have some to share soon.

Today was my first day back at my job after surgery, and I talked to them about taking off one Saturday a month. They said that they were fine with it. So hopefully I will be able to attend the October meeting!

So I got my first anemone today. It's a Rose tip. I've only had it in my tank a hour and half. This video was shot like 30 minutes after I put it in the tank. My LED's are also about to shut off, so the tank is a lot bluer than normal. I'll post updates on it. I've done lots of research on this over the past year. I'm hoping that I will be able to keep it alive. I am for sure kind of nervous about it!

I think that it is looking like it is supposed to. It's expanded and looks like it did at the LFS. I'm going to try to feed it later today when I feed the rest of my tank. The foot moved a little last night, but only to get into a deeper crevice. It's still in the spot I put it, so hopefully it is happy. It's very beautiful though! the LFS said that they thought it might split soon, so maybe I can share one if anybody is interested. (I don't have room for two!!)

Any suggestions on what to use to cover powerheads? I have two Aqueon ACP 700. This thing gets massive during the day. It seems to be settled in a spot, but who knows if it might decide to find a better spot. I'm just going back to work today, and it makes me nervous not to be able to watch it. I'm going to be at Walmart, and can get something there. I am worried about reducing flow though. And if I need to order something online, I will. I've seen that pantyhose would work, but I don't really want to check that out at Walmart lol.

My tank is starting to look more full. I appreciate some of the members here giving me a good deal, and hopefully I'll be able to start returning the favor. Here's an updated shot of the tank and a couple misc. photos:

Vortech makes a little cover for there powerheads which you could use to cover part of yours. My advice is feed the anemone a couple times a week if it's in a spot where you like, and it will most likely stay there if it's getting good light. Then once you think it's happy, cut back on feeding. Actually, RBTAs don't have to be fed at all, but I still feed mine once a week. It hasn't moved in over 16 months since he found it's happy place. Good luck, I love mine, even though it practically takes up 1/4 of my tank now.

Thanks for the advice. That makes a lot of sense. I feed my tank once a week, but I'll sneak it a little bit of food to it mid-week. I think that it's getting good light though. It's the highest point on the rock work in my tank. It's in the best spot in my tank, although it might not know that and start roaming around. But I tried to be really conscious of finding it a spot that it could really bury it's foot and get good lighting and flow. It's been there since Sunday, we will see. I get up and check on it several times during the night, just to make sure.

I'm hoping that it doesn't get much larger. It's already bigger than my hand!
