So I don't have to buy anything? I can just take the lenses off? And are there a certain purpose for the lenses being on? I don't know much about lighting, and don't want to mess something up.
The lenses magnify the light. It focuses the light spread to a smaller area 90 degrees. With the lenses off it widens the focus to 120 degrees. I'm not saying to do it. At least if you buy the reflector it will come with a acrylic cover over the LEDs so they will be protected. But if your having trouble getting the light to spread to the sides of the tank, it could help.
Video that I shot of my tank last night. Just a little update on some of the progress.
Alan, your tank looks great and I do think I recognized more than a few of your corals from our meeting and my frags. Glad it all came together for you...
Thank you Greg! A lot of those are from what I purchased from you! The next time a meeting is close, I'll have to come visit again. I'm starting to feel more confident about SPS. And the Angel trumpets you gave me are really growing!
Maybe one of these days! But if anybody does have questions about it, feel free to inbox me. I do know some tricks to making photos shot under the blue light look normal. You just need a camera that'll shoot "raw" format & photoshop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I added 13 new corals to this tank today. Most were SPS, zoas, & the gorgonian. I'll post photos as they adjust to the tank. I am unsure of what all the sps are. I'll probably need some help in identifying the pieces. But all the frags look a lot better than the wysiwyg photos. I think some have potential. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here are some of the corals that I recently purchased. I got all of these SPS for $2.95. I have no idea what kind they all are. Any help in identifying them would be greatly appreciated. I know that they might have to grow some and color up before they can be truly ID'd. [1] [2] [3] [4] I accidentally broke off a piece of my orange monti today on the left, so I wanted to compare it to the coral that I just got on the right. Do they look the same. I am hoping that they are different, but I am thinking they are the same. [5] This is the gongorian that I purchased. And some of the zoas that I got for like $4 and less. [6] [7] [8]
Just got my clam in the tank! I'll post better photos of everything tonight. But it opened right up, and has a good reflex to shadows. So hopefully that is a good sign!
Here's some photos of some of the stuff I got today. I'm still waiting for some of the zoas to open, and the goniopora to open. Here's some of the acans that I got. I also got a pink and red one, but haven't taken a photo of it yet. Pretty sure that is a rainbow acan on the right hand side. Here's my baby maxima clam. It is tiny, but hopefully I will be able to keep it healthy and watch it grow. New trumpet coral. The center is bright green, and around it is a darker reddish color. New gorgonian. I am totally unsure what kind it is. I have it in high flow. I do feed my tank every other day with Reef Pearls, so if it isn't photosynthetic, maybe that will help.
Hmmmm, now that Greg has the acan/duncan killer I can try acans again! Alan the Duncan that the angel attacked has recovered nicely. Still yours if you want it.
That is an evil angel, he keeps my coral beauty beat up and in a corner, my cure is to add more angels.
I love these acans. The two on the left are really nice, but I couldn't get a good shot of them. I'm excited to see the acans Kim got. When this stuff grows out and I need to start fragging, I'll be sure to let you all know first. Y'all have definitely helped me out, so I'll be happy to return the favor. My red war coral actually could probably be fragged, if anybody gets to looking for one. I'll take some daylight photos of my acans soon. They are just in a corner of my tank that I can't scrape the glass, because the live rock is too close. So I have to try and be artistic with my shot angles. Lol. David, I'll take it. And I think that brain coral is almost big enough for a decent size frag. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
