Feel better Chris and take care of that boo-boo!

  7. Looks like I get to keep my finger tip, no surgery. I still have feeling in the tip and the nail matrix is still there so I am good to go with dressing changes every day for the next two months. It actually doesn't hurt all that much, just in the way. Thanks for all of the kind words.

  8. I got 3 coats of polyurethane on the aquariums today. I hope to be done with the all of the finishing tomorrow and put it all together on Wednesday before I go to work. I am ready for the stands to be done so I can move on to the hoods. I am starting to remember what all goes into setting up a new tank. I have to remind myself when it gets to this stag how much I enjoy doing this.

The formula for the polyurathane is 1/2 cup Naptha to 1 qt ployurethane. I set up to spray today and it went well for the first coat but when I mixed up a new batch it went down hill from there. I don't know whether the poly starts to dry in the gun or what but I went back to the brush which is more time consuming but I like it better. I will post the finished stand pics on Wed evening.

Yeah just think how awsome that SPS setup is going to be! It will be worth all of the blood, sweat, and tears.

  10. Who told you that I cried when I hurt my finger? Who ever it was is lying!

  13. I barly got the last coat on the 200 and dry before the rain came yesterday. I am pretty satisfied with the finish, I am no professional. The hoods are the next order of buisness. I have been puttering with different designs and think that I will settle on on that has no doors but the whole top of the food hinges up off of a central frame. This will give 100% unimpeaded access to all of the lighting and equipment.

Very nice Chris. I'm sure that big bow in the ceramic edge won't show at all. Sure good to have that part finished so I can start the set-up. I'm sure the canopy will look just as good. Thanks again my friend. !!!!!

That bowed look is because of the angle of the picture. It is straight, I have seen it.

If you throw the dog in I'll let you build me one.

The stand looks terrific, you're doing a really good job on it :)

  19. Update from Norman's Wood Work Shop: I got started on the hoods today. The Boss has been on my ass about not being productive enough so I have posted a few pictures to show progress. I have been thinking of numerous stratagies for access to the tank and lights like double hinged doors or complete hood top hinge but ultimatly the stands are so light that it may be best to go with a conventional hood with front facing doors. I will have to decide by this evening just what direction to go b/c I am meeting the boss tomorrow to get the rest of the supplies.

  20. I got the frames completed and the hoods skinned with oak plywood. I am off to Lowes to exchage some white tile for black and pick up some more glue. I will be working on the trim and making the doors tomorrow. Normans hood was to be able to hinge up but after working with it this morning I just was not able to do it. Sorry Norman, but on the upside these hoods are extremely light and strong. I can lift the 200 gallon hood with one hand.
