The problem with them is that they're usually only open when the lights are out and they're feeding. Very beautiful but difficult. I've thought about it but couldn't pull the trigger.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to attempt one. The color would look good against the black though.

Put my maxspect nano led's over the tank. I ordered another rail, b/c the light would not stay put with the single bracket, hanging from the back. I didn't want to come home and see the lights in the tank.

I think this tank is about cycled. I'll be getting a cleanup crew soon, and will work on getting a In-Tank Media basket. I'm currently saving for a Radion for the 93 gallon, so I've got to wait on this build. But I will probably keep a few soft corals in this tank, until it is stable enough for an anemone. I'm thinking about doing a bubble tip only tank. I'll have to find the perfect colored one for it though, and will just let it split and do it's thing. But check out these tanks. I think it would look really awesome with the all-black look of the tank and room:

Man that looks like the anemone equivalent of an aipatasia farm! LOL That clown in the first one is soooo confused!

Lol I know. It's out of control, but I bet the movement would be awesome in it. I've seen some tanks mix colors of bubble tip anemones. So you might could do something interesting with it. But it's almost like a huge hay field or something.

BRS had a good progression of their clownfish harem/anemone tank last year. If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth a watch. Here's one of the episodes.

That is cool. Thanks for sharing that John. I would love to have nem but worry about keeping it from wandering all over the tank and zapping my corals. How hard have you guys found them to take care of?

That is awesome John. Exactly what I want to do. Although, I couldn't imaging sticking my hand in a tank with that many clownfish. My current ones are mean and bite. I purchased some gloves so i don't have to worry about them.

David, they aren't too difficult if you get a captive bred and healthy one. The very first one I purchased was this one:

The only reason I lost it was because it had moved, and I pointed a powerhead at it to attempt to move it. The current ripped some of it and I panicked. I was afraid it would die & wipe out my tank. I'm wishing that I would've just let it move and do its thing. It was a beautiful red & green and large.

The one I purchased in September is doing good. It is small, but seems to be doing good. The mouth is closed & it accepts feedings. It hasn't moved from the initial spot that I placed it. The only thing is that the tentacles aren't very long. My tomato clown is living in it, and I'm not sure if that is affecting them. But it seems healthy to me. It's just not growing as fast as I want it to.

I got a baby RBTA in May I believe. It hasn't moved since I put it in. My clowns waller in the Elegance Coral until the lights go out. Then one moves to the RBTA and the other goes to a Frogspawn

David, like the other guys have said. I think they're easier than a lot of the things you read on some of the forums, at least the bubble tips are. I've found that they are easier than probably 75% of the coral that I have or have had.

Update on the tank. I've added a few things until the tank is ready to support anemones.

  13. I'm no clam expert but if you can keep it alive then your ready for BTAs. Usually see clams recommended after 6mo to year depending on the species. I guess if it starts looking ill you can transfer.

I've had this clam for a couple of years. It was getting too cramped in my other tank. When I start dosing my 93 gallon, I'm going to put it there. I was just afraid it'd suck too much calcium out of the water with all the other corals I got. But it's been in this tank several days, & opened right up.

I was thinking the same thing as SilentReefer. Clams need stability, light and filter food....all of which are in short supply with a new tank. Keep an eye on him Al! By the way he's huge!

When I was keeping the small cube for my nieces last year, I added this clam to the tank around this time in the setup. It done fine. But I am keeping an eye on it. If it closes up, I'll put it in another tank. I figure as long as it's fully extending, it'll be alright.

  17. If successful gardeners have green thumbs, you must have a mantle thumb….haha, clams are much much more fickle than bubble tips. If the clam is happy the BTA will be fine, IMO.

Oh and when I first saw the pic it was from my phone. Now that I'm at the computer…….that clam is huge! Also, what are the frags you've placed? That purple is really pop'n.

That's just a devil's hand. This is going to be my anemone tank. I'm adding all the cool corals to my 93 gallon.

Nah. I had just put it in the tank when I took this photo, & it hadn't opened its polyps yet.
