Good news. I didn't get the flame angel. The store I went to wanted 72 dollars for a small sucker. Anywho, I got two clowns, a yellow watchman goby and shrimp combo, and a monti cap.
Next thing, CORALS! I will probably pick up a anemone before hand though. I want it to get settled where it wants to be and then place corals. Any suggestions on what kind? I know I want to see flow and hopefully the clowns will host. I also don't want to spend a arm and a leg for one. Also what some color.
Also, I know a lot of people don't like Green Star Polyps. If anyone has any that they hate and want to get rid of I will take them off your hands. I want to coat the back of my tank with them.
Just because this is a pet peeve for me. Technically the nem hosts the clowns like you would host a guest in your home.
OK, I admit it... I once asked someone what part of the clown the anemone's foot was attached to when they said it backwards. Whew....I feel better now.
Picked this guy up from paradise pets today. I think it is a Condy Anemone...correct me if I'm wrong. It seems to be really happy however, its bigger than it was at the store.
Is it really white or is that just the lighting? I ask because I've heard that a white nem is a bleached out one or unhealthy ... someone correct me if I'm wrong!
Did you get it out of the bottom left tanks or the top left tank? He only keeps condi's in the top left. the only clowns that will host a condi is Skunk clowns. Also, some folks will recommend only a mature tank for an anenomie, of at least 6 months.
It was in the bottom. He said he got it in the day before. It seems to be pretty happy, nestled in really well and fully spread out.
I'm no anemone expert but it doesn't look fully inflated to me Brad. You shouldn't be able to see the foot. This is how they look when fully inflated.
Sorry I have been inactive lately. The anemone is doing great. I forgot to mention that when I took those pictures I had just placed the guy in there. It is now nestled in very nicely in the rock and looks to be very happy. Do yall feed the anemone or just let photosynthesis do its thing? I have read that a lot of anemones can survive off just photosynthesis. I have been giving it a little bit of Mysis whenever I feed the clowns. Looking to go get some more coral today. Any suggestions? I want a torch, but all the ones at TFT are super expensive. I do want to move into SPS as soon as the tank is ready.
I have some GSP on a rock ... nothing fragged. I have frogspawn too ... not torch but same family. I got my torches online.
Well if you would ever be willing to part with some GSP and frogspawn just let me know how much and I will see if I can do that. I went to the LFS and they wanted 75 dollars for a little thing of GSP. I thought that was a litttttleee over priced for a coral that a lot of people dont like.
$75 for GSP?! Holy cow, I could have been a millionaire! I think it's great if you keep it isolated where you can control it.
