I don't see why not. Pondmaster is the manufacturer that makes MAG pumps, so it should be about as reliable as you can get as far as submersible pumps. An external pump (like a Sequence) would provide a much cooler operation and is a lot easier to "dial down" if you need to slow down the flow. You might check and see if you can find one of those before you bid on the submersible pump. Just my .02 =)
