    Hello

I have an AquaC EV-180. Does anyone else have one of these, or know about them. I have set it up like they instruct, and im not realy impressed by it. in the collection tower the foam doesn realy climb but have way up, scum builds on the sides, this makes me think that there is skimmate to be removed, but i dont see it moveing up the tower. ocationally the foam does make it up to the cup. maybe it is working, and maybe im expecting too much. i would like to hear from others that know this skimmer well.

    thanks
    Greg

I just got a aquac 180 as well, i honestly love the design and engineering done by aquac; however, i agree that the tuning w/ the ball valve is hard to adjust. I have one being run by a quiet1 3000 it actually works great, but it took several weeks to actually set it. A good point is to set the water level in the skimmer, at the base of the clar tower. Check for pump ratings, u might not have enough power and bubbles.

I have set the water level right at the base of the tower, the ball valve is wide open, i just have lots of raging bubbles, but no real foam, as far as the pump, im useing the mag 7 that it came with. how long have you been using yours and does it just skim up the sides of the clear tower

When youget ready to adjust it, do not put your fingers, food or anything in the water. These skimmers are very touchy. The foam column will collapse if you do this while you are trying to set the level of the internal chamber, causing to wet skim more than likely when it settles back down.

I would run the water level on my EV-120 up to the yellow line pictured.

I also made this for the drain to help reduce splashing noise, kinda like a Durso.

I run ozone thats what the green line was for in the picture also. I no longer have these skimmers (I used to have 3 of them) due to them being so touchy. What size pump are you using. Have you checked unscrewed the nozzle and checked it for debris (sand)? They are real bad about getting pieces of crushed coral or whatever lodged in the beckett type injector.

They are also very touchy to water fluctuating around the outside as the instructions say. I made a sump that had a shelf in the middle chamber for it to sit on. The middle chamber water level always stayed the same. This allowed for very little fluctation in the water level around the skimmer.

If it is a new one it well take a week or so to get broken in also, as it does it well become more stable and well skim more.
