Thanks. I really wanted the Lifereef overflow but I could only get store credit for the tank and they cant get that. So idk the DIY tube type sounds really cool, no way for flooding.
Mr. John, Glad to see you are still active on our forums........miss you guy !!! Why have we not heard about your new tank set up or seen pics. I know you are at least in the start up stage by now !!
Ok, ran to the hardware store yesterday and I made this. It has a siphon trap on it so it will automatically restart siphon if when power comes back on. I'm not done yet though. I still want to modify the tubes that go into the tank and make more like the one grimmett posted, and I need to put a check valve on top and a ball valve on bottom, Thanks for all the links.
My favorite overflow is one that doesn't include "siphon" in the name. You have a tank you need drilled? I will do it if so.
Norman I have been busy laying sod and fixing the place back up after 2 years of neglect. Kind of enjoying the freedom for awhile also of not having to find someone to care for the tank when I want to take off on the Goldwing for a few days. Every now and then I get a tug to get one going again. It well happen sooner or later.
blake, I would love to have the tank drilled but it is a 55 gallon and im pretty sure they are all tempered all the way around.
Thought I add this to this thread.... link to a lifereef install - if interested - really nice vids http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/853224-post29.html Good instructional vids of a sump install in general
