This might be a dumb question, but if don't ask, won't find out.  Thinking on how the plumbing will be done on my 100 gal. would it be a good or bad idea to tee off of the return line. so that it could run thru a ????Dual BRS GFO and Carbon Reactor or should it have it's own pump? Pros or Cons????? If any more info is needed let me know. Remeber this project is still in the beginning stage. Oh yea, the tank is not drilled and will have overflow box and return line. Any info will be appreciated

Using the main pump is fine. Just make sure there is a valve to regulate the flow and to shut if off completely if needed. The downside would be it cuts down a little on return flow. An upside is it is one less pump to add to your electric bill.

First of all I would say DRILL THE TANK. Never trust the overflow box. Just my opinion, but until you have 30 or so gallons of water on your floor it would be easy to say just go with the overflow box. Secondly I would use an additional pump for all reactors or filters. Again in my opinion you want as much flow from your returns as you can get, up to a point of course. Any restriction of the flow would have an adverse effect not to mention if the media becomes clogged and the overflow dosen't match the return, water on the floor.

We all have our opinions on how to do this... This simple answer is, do what suits your set up.... If you have a huge return pump and have to throttle it back like me then why not use the excess to run another tank or reactors. At the same time if you are barely getting 2 times the turn over I would say no.. use another pump.

I do agree with Norm... I hated haveing an overflow box. While there are people out there that have run one forever with no problems you have just as many people that have ruined perfectly good floors with them too (not to mention carpet) So...

Simple answer.... There is no simple answer... LOL

Drill it, I know that was not your original question. I have bits and you can order an overflow online. I just drill and added an overflow on a 60 cube, you can do it. Now back to your question I have my fuge and reactors on my return. Again as mentioned you you need to be able to control flow and to be able to close it off. If you in central AR you can stop by to see mine and if you need help drilling just let me know.
