Hello all, I'm new to the salt water hobby, about 7 months in, and glad I found yall. Looking forward to coming to the June meeting. My wife and I went to The Fish Tank a few months ago to start up a new 29g fresh water tank that was traumatically crashed by the big Christmas snow storm several years ago. As soon as we walked in my wife was glued to the coral and the marine fish, and well, that has ended up being a very expensive Saturday afternoon outing My current setup is a Crystaline 65g rimless tank with a Trigger crystal 30 sump, and two Kessil 360s lighting it. The tank has two clowns, a melanarus, a starry blenny, a pair of cleaner shrimp that have a fascination with my wife, a peppermint, a conch and a bunch of snails and blue legged hermits. Thus far I have a little christmas favia, hammer, frogspawn, one duncan and a few zoas. Looking forward to filling the tank up, and absolutely loving it so far!
Wow! You didnt mess around with your equipment choices! Look forward to meeting you guys. Feel free to start a build thread and post pictures. I know it's not a new build but we would love to see some pictures.
Sounds like a slightly smaller version of mine ... I'd love to see it! (85 gal rimless, trigger Emerald 36, 2 kessil A360)
Please disregard the dirty glass lol. The tank is in the middle of my living room so part of the reason for the fancy lights and tank is aesthetics. Also the shimmer from the kessils is amazing. I tried to interest the wife in a couple cheaper fixtures that sat on the glass using legs (hanging the lights was not an option), but after showing her one, her response was "that thing looks like it's going jump off the tank and eat the cat" so we end up with the nice clean looking kessils.
Looks great! I like the rockscape! I also like how your lights are closer to the tank. Mine are quite high above. I might try lowering them a bit and see how it looks.
Thanks so much for the comments, and the tank is about 8 months set up now, some of the rock had coralline on it already when I bought it at the Fish Tank though, so I cheated a bit
