yea, she's right up against the glass, so the side I got was in shadow. She is pretty dark though, with drab yellow stripes and kinda an electric blue outline on her stripes.

The male is much prettier, but hes camera shy.

    Thanks!

Also, just out of curiosity, is there a type of coraline algae that is lime green?

If you look on the rock behind the clown in that picture, it has a neon green algae on it, and it is pretty well set there. I can't blow it off with a baster or scrape it off easily.

Would be really cool if it was coraline cuz I've never seen that color.

    Thanks!

    Awesome!

Went home on lunch today, and we ordered 100 cerith snails from reefcleaners.org ( got closer to 200 ) they were somewhat inactive when we first put them in the tank, but when we turned on the lights on lunch, they were everywhere! If they are still on the glass this evening I will get a picture of them.

I don't have a picture yet, but I have a neon green algae growing in my tank.

And by neon green, I mean chartreuse glowing highlighter green.

It doesn't come off the rocks easily and is only growing where the light hits the rocks directly. It started out on a small piece of live rock in a couple small spots, and now it is almost covering the rocks I got from reefcleaners.org and is spreading to other live rock as well. I hope it isn't bad, because the color is appealing to me. It looks like coraline algae, but not purple, red, yellow, or dark green.

Don't have a picture as of this second, hopefully I can get one tonight, but has anyone else seen this type of algae? And what is it if you have?

    Thanks!

Please get a pic of this!.. I am intrigued... I would love to see what it is that you have...

You know there are some calcareous algae like Coraline that are green.... but neon green... I dunno...

The attachment is an extremely large picture of the first rock it came in on. I have linked to a couple smaller images on the other rocks. I didn't adjust color in these images either other than to fix the white balance so you could see the real colors. It actually looks more yellow than this, but I can't brighten the pictures more without it distorting the other colors in the picture.

The smaller images below are "younger" versions of the same thing, I think. They grew in the same fashion, and spread in the same way.

    What do you think?

Yeah... its a green coralline.... I have seen this before but I must say yours in that one pic is super green... Wish it would stay this color but sadly it usually purples up over time and the green goes away.

Enjoy the coolness though for now!

Great! Glad it isn't something bad!

Too bad the color will change, it really looks like someone colored all over the rocks with a highlighter!

Thanks for the responses. Check out my linked gallery below to see some pictures I got while visiting Norman's earlier today. Thanks Norman for the Xenia! It is pulsing and doing great thus far.

I will post a video tomorrow sometime of the entire tank. I'm so excited to see the life and colors in it now. Hopefully in the next few weeks we can get the refugium up and running!

Well, the green coraline has darkened up to the dark green that I'm used to. :-(

But we have all kinds of new things to enjoy after this last weekend at COMAS.

Also got a really nice frag of some zoas, just haven't got a good picture of them yet.
