One of their most popular products, the Nano DOC Protein Skimmer 9002 has been upgraded. The popular silence pump which we spied early has been placed as the main powerplant for the Nano DOC protein skimmer. Doing this gives increased efficiency to the popular skimmer while giving a slight bump to a quieter package. The old pump was 0800.040, while the new pump is 1073.008. These have been shipping and most retailers should have the new pumps in stock by now, but you can always check before you pull the plug.
I ran into this elsewhere, and got excited. Then I saw the comments atthe bottom. A person checked with Tunze about upgrading their current9002 with the new pump, and Tunze said: "I have no definitie answer at this point. If it is possible, a fair amount of modification would be required, we continue to stock the old pump for the older skimmers. The main difference is the new pump is slightly quieter and has about 10 gph more performance, the performance difference is pretty small." So basically, a bit of help to folks buying a new one, but nothing for those of us that already have the skimmer...
