A few days ago I tested my alkalinity and it had fallen all the way to 7.0 (usually keep it around 8.3 dKh). I calculated the amount to get me about half way to my usual and dosed it slowly in a high flow area. Checked 24 hours later to see if I raised it as much as thought and it was back to 7.0 again! I dosed more aggressively and struggled to keep my alkalinity above 8.0.

Fast forward to today. Doing some routine maintenance and noticed my line from my alkalinity pump was opaque. Turned my dosing pump on and hardly could get any flow at all. The line was almost completely clogged. At least I know now why my alkalinity demand went up. Bad part is the up and down cost me a new acro colony I got last week, major bummed. Lesson learned.

Any thoughts on keeping dosing lines from clogging? They are so low flow. I think when I turn the return off to do water changes the water level in the sump rises to the tip of the dosing lines and that caused the precipitation. I've raised the tips of the lines after replacing them today.
