cut some eggcrate to cover the top of your tank. You can get it at almost any hardware store. Its used for flourescent lighting covering

A canopy is good at stopping that also. They may jump, but the canopy will help them bounce back into the water. Be sure to use fans to evacuate the heat from the canopy though, or you may run into heat issues. It will not block light penetration as egg crate will either or the mesh.

1st thanks guys for the help. i used the eggcrate and cut openings large enough so it does not get hot and does not block any hq lighting. i do want a canopy but it will have to wait for now. anyone have plans to build your own or does anyone build for a good price? again guys ty.

As far as stand and canopy makers 6mmedic does an incredible job. He is currently working on my stand and canopy for my new 215.

A quick, easy fix is to use "wedding vail" material available at Walmart. It may not look as nice but it's easy to cover, easy to access your tank & a cheap fix.

Butchwvw go to the DIY forum and read the fifth down thread by bigben7. He made one using some eggcrate and mesh that should work fine and won't block light much at all. It was easy to make also with electric wire ties. Straight eggcrate well block to much light.

I use egg crate and I still seem to get plenty of light. I have three 150 watt MH I have never had a heat problem for the egg crate. Hope this helps.
