Hi all. I'm new to this forum, and eventually plan on becoming a paid member. I had a 55 gallon mixed reef for several years, until a tank crash due to our central air unit going out in August 2012 . Anyway, I've decided to give it another shot. This time I have a Red Sea Max 250, that I purchased used from my LFS, I plan on building (with Apex and Chiller eventually ;)). The tank is in decent shape, but it has none of the filtration equipment in it (had some pumps, but none worked) since the previous owner apparently used a sump. I plan to restore this baby to its original condition, and hope to enjoy it for years to come. I do look forward to making acquaintances/friends here to share experiences, ideas, and general love for the hobby and life it encompasses.

Hiya!

Welcome back to the hobby! Feel free to ask any questions and we'll do our best to help you out. I have no idea on how to deal with a sump, so I'll bow out of that discussion now.

Thanks, and I will. The RSM 250 is an all in-one-tank. The sump is built into the back of it like the newer Innovative Marine tanks. The people that had it before me gutted it and installed a traditional sump under the tank or wherever. The traditional sump is probably better, but there really was no need for it since the RSMs are specifically designed for reefing. It isn't a big deal to fix it properly. Just a matter of the factory skimmer and 3 pumps really.

Welcome back to the darkside muhahaha.....we have free corals for paid members so its a wonderful way to gather frags and watch them grow in a maturing tank. We area a very friendly group of people. Just ask whenever you have questions, we probably have the answer!

Welcome to the club. I used to have an RSM 250. Let me know when you're ready for a chiller. I have one I'm not using. Also have an InTank media rack for the back chamber if interested. Look forward to seeing you at a future meeting.

Welcome back!

There's often members giving or selling cheaply some pretty cool corals.

Awesome! It'll be a while before I'm ready for a chiller. I still gotta get pumps and stuff. I may take you up on it later though if you still have it.
:D I used to watch that show all the time.
