How do y'all feel about these picked up the 3 pack of Kent from Petco for 12 bucks because I knew I'd need them sooner or later. When should I dose iodide? If at all Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
I don't dose Iodide. Some people say it helps them but I've not noticed much of a change with it in the past. Only thing I dose is mainly alkalinity and calcium.
Alright thank you I have plenty of calcium at the moment so no need to dose yet but I also don't have many corals to eat it yet just nems and a few different fish. I have the reef fusion 2 formula for calcium and alkalinity Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Also purple up and a few others I haven't needed to dose anything since my water change last week tho. Its water test night tho so after dinner I will be testing again Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Hiya, You shouldn't need the Ammonia stuff. Water changes and good husbandry should keep the ammonia under control. I dose iodine once a month, but I have a lot of mushrooms. Kim/Benton, AR
I dose BRS 2 part (calcium and alkalinity). Because I use a salt mix that matches my calcium and alkalinity and is not high in magnesium I do have to manually dose magnesium about once every 4-6 weeks. The alkalinity and calcium are dosed by dosing pump, the alkalinity at the top of every hour and the calcium at the bottom of every hour.
Agreed if your having ammonia issues something is terribly wrong with the tank. Iodine used to be pushed as a must have, water changes usually are enough for most tanks. A quarterly triton test could show you results on that and everything else for that matter......just to make sure no metal were sneaking in. Purple up, just use your 2part. The 2nd to the left, strontium? You shouldn't need that either, water changes and triton. Take some of that back if you can, IMO! I will say, I dose red sea color and one of them has iodine. That seems to be the one that has exploded my Cheato growth. So plants do love iodine.
