how much alk are you guys dosing per day? My alk seems to be dropping quick and I'm not sure where on average I am out of curiosity. I was dosing 30ml total per day( 15ml twice per day). It was stable for a while now it's dropping. I went to 18ml twice a day and it's still dropping. Now I'm at 15ml 3 times a day. Does this seem like a lot?

Just so we have the big picture what are your other parameters doing? What about Mag and CA?

Calcium is high 570 so I stopped dosing was dosing 15ml twice a day. Mag is a little high about 1450 not dosing. Think those two may be high because of having to raise the salinity from the refractometer issue a few weeks ago.

    What is your Alkalinity?

I'm dosing 95 cc/day but don't have a lot of acros right now.

Sunday or Monday it was 8.3. Checked it last night and it was 7.6. Checked with Hannah then rechecked with salifert.

Check your alk at the same time each day and make small adjustments until it stays stable from one measurement to the next. I use the BRS dosing calculator to account for the extra dosing required to bring the alk back to target.

That's what I've been doing. Just wasn't sure if I was dosing a lot or a little compared to what others were dosing. Lol

Totally depends on your bioload. I had a small 50 gal tank with a clam and corraline and still logged 1 dkh/day. Your dose is totally depenent upon what you are dosing (BRS solution? Soda Ash/Baked BS, regular BS, etc.). 1-2 dkh/day for me isn't "a lot" IMO.

I've used this calculator, but you can use any of them out there. BRS is fine.

    Using Reef Crystals, perchance?

FWIW: I have a 200 gal system with smallish SPS and such, one medium clam, small clam and I dose 120 mL of Randy's Part 1/day.

This is my first time with corals. Always had seahorse tanks. Wasn't sure if what I was dosing seemed like a lot or not. Apparently I'm still on the low end of the scale. Lol.
    I'm using salinity salt.

I'm only dosing 60 ml CA and 53 ml Alk per day right now but I need to bump it up just a little. I did a 30 gal water change of Fritz RPM on Saturday but forgot to plug my pumps back in until Sunday night. At 8 pm last night CA 420 Alk 6.3 but my last Alk dose hadn't happened yet. I'm about to test now and see where I'm at.

Tonight CA 410 Alk 6.4. Looks like I need to bump it up a little more. CA test Red Sea, Alk Hanna
