I actually think I'm going to do this as my soft coral tank, as I had originally planned. I decided to tear down my 33 gallon. Most of what was left was soft corals. It was too much trying to keep 3 tanks going and I hated the canister filter on the 33 gallon. It was a great starter tank, and I learned a lot. I'm thinking about converting it into some kind of tank for either cactus or maybe orchids. I figure the led light over that tank will work for it as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Clam is still doing alright so far. My black clown is still hosting it, even after the tank move. (He swam away from the photo, he's camera shy). I also ordered an intake media basket with some biofloss, chemipure elite, and purigen so I can get some better filtration in this tank. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm trying to figure out what soft corals to add. Most of the ones are brown or neon green that I have. I was thinking about maybe a yellow Fiji leather. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Get some Metallic GSP for the back wall. Not the regular GSP, the "Sunburst" GSP. I can bring you a Cabbage frag next meeting if you want. John
I think I'm going to get some of the gsp for the wall. I had some metallic, but it actually died in my other tank. Dunno what was going on with it. What color is the cabbage coral? I have one from one of our meetings that's a metallic green. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I thought about the GSP for my overflow but it was so darn invasive I chickened out. I got a couple of cool cyphastrea frags and glued them to the overflow last week. Anxious to see if the tolerate the light/flow there.
Hiya, My devil's hand leather is shedding babies. I can bring you one if you want. I may even have a few mushroom's loose and floating around if you want them. The fuzzy greens and a purple one. Kim/Benton, AR
I've actually got one of your devil's hand corals in this tank lol. The purple mushroom would be awesome. I'm trying to decide if I want to add the green hairy ones in this tank. They went wild in my last tank and smothered everything. I covered them in pickling lime and couldn't kill them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So this tank still hasn't taken off like I've wanted it to yet. I just ordered a protein skimmer. I am having some issues with hair algae on the back wall. I also just ordered a mP40 for my 93 gallon, so I am going to take one of the mp10's and put on the biocube. Hopefully these modifications will help, and I can post some awesome photos in the future of this tank.
Hiya, Do you have any fish in yours? I was hoping not to put a protein skimmer on this tank, but if you're having issue with fish and a softy tank, I may have too. How is your Alk with the black sand? I went with a small grain white sand in mine. Kim/Benton, AR
I've got two clownfish. I honestly haven't been testing in this tank, although I'll probably start again. I was just hoping for a low maintenance tank with this one. The big tank keeps me busy. The mp10 is doing good so far. I may purchase another mp40 so that I can have a pair of mp10's in this tank. I've got the protein skimmer running, but it's not produced any skimmate yet. I might not have it setup right. I'll have to research it when I get some time. I also need to start filling this up with softcorals. I haven't found any yet online that I want to add. All my expensive zoas go in the large tank. I may add some frag and see if I can start some new ones. My helms deep palys are starting to really take off. They would look good in it.
Just got both mp10's on this tank. It seems like the flow pattern is good. And the Duncan that I have in here seems to be enjoying the flow. The polyps seem to be looking fatter to me. It's just an old Duncan from my old 33 gallon that I had extra. I think something had stung it, so I wasn't sure that it was going to live. When things start looking right in this tank, I'll post some proper photos. Here's a quick cellphone photo of the Duncan. I also need to start stocking up on soft corals. I start working days at the end of this month, and maybe I can make it to the fish bowl or reef escapes and pick some up. I still can't find any I like online.
I had a credit at an online store, so I went ahead and ordered some new corals for this tank (and my 93 gallon). I seen a photo of a tank that used only 3 or 4 colors in their corals, (like orange, green, and yellow) and thought maybe I might try a theme. My tank has nothing but neon green colors right now, and some red zoas. So I ordered some orange pieces that I thought would go nice with the green. Corals: Orange plate. I thought this would look good on the black sand. Metallic Green GSP. Just want a nice chunk of it in the tank. I like the look of it, even if it's a weed. Orange mushroom, to continue the orange and green theme. For my 93 gallon Cyphastra & orange lepto
Hiya, What is that coral under the orange plate? Nice...I'd love a piece if you're fragging it. Kim/Benton, AR
If it's the orange one, it's a lepto. Not sure if it's a jack o lantern one though. When it gets big enough, I'll for sure frag for any of the club members.
