Hello, Everyone! I acquired a beautiful meteor shower at our auction meeting last October, and it has thrived since then. That is, until I brought home the acropora and the Orange Montis from our last meeting. Almost overnight it seems to be wasting away. The first attached pic is what it looks like now, and the second is from a week or two before our meeting for comparison. I suspect that a six-gallon tank is too small for the current mix that I have, although I have tried to separate them all (taking flow direction into account) as much as possible. I have tried researching on-line but haven't found any info yet on coral mixes in small tanks (at least nothing applicable here) or "enemies" of meteor showers. I don't think any other significant parameters were changed at the time I introduced the two new guys. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I would love to blame it on allopathy (coral warfare). The only thing is cyphastreas have won every war I've had when it comes to acros and monti's

If you look closely at this picture there is a big defect in the left upper part of this chilli pepper monti. In that hole you can see my cyphastrea (green eggs and ham). The monti grew a lot faster and more than I expected. I thought I had them plenty far apart. LOL

Hard to think it's anything to do with water quality when the more difficult to keep pieces are doing well. Major mystery but that meteor shower looks gone in the second picture.

Thanks for the input! I'm very confused at what a fast and dramatic decline it has had. Just a week ago it was happy as could be. Sad!!

Did I give you the orange monti? The only problem I've had with it is that it has overgrown corals and/or shaded them. But when it is touching the other corals, it doesn't seem to be putting out any chemicals. It just seems to keep growing. So maybe it's something else?

I think so--I did more searching on-line last night. The only thing I could find that might be a cause is that I read that meteor showers are sensitive to too much light. When I introduced the two new corals, I did adjust the meteor shower's position which brought it a bit closer to the lights. (Raised it 1-2 inches) Our lights are pretty strong, esp for a small tank. So this morning I moved it to a dimmer place in the tank to see if it's not too late (if that truly is the cause) to reverse the damage.

Thanks for your input! I truly appreciate y'all's expertise.
