Almost any of them with a DC pump. Mine is virtually silent as is my DC return pump.

Agreed. I have a skimmer that is working great. I never noticed how loud it was until I put the dc skimmer on my smaller tank. It is so quiet. Now Skimmer noise is on my brain anytime I come in the room. Unfortunately sounds like they don't make replacement pumps for my skimmer

Yeah I thinking about getting a bigger tank and I have a lot of old stuff that still works from my previous tanks. I plugged up the old skimmer I had from a few years ago and it works great but couldn't believe how loud it is. I just have a mini skimmer on my tank now it's alil small but works well with weekly water changes. But is almost silent compared to the other.

I have a rather maligned Omega 130. Compared to other skimmers I've had and been around it's pretty quiet. I had it in the kitchen and the ambient noise from the circulation pump covered it up so you couldn't hear it at all. NOT the same with that HOB skimmer I had....Don't have experience listening to the DC pumps but with this one you hear the ambient noise of the air moving around the body and SOME intake noise. Very acceptable for me.

My real skimmer is an old life reef vs-24. THAT sucker is loud. But man...it works and I don't have to fritz with it! If I had to have it in the same room with me I'd not be very happy.

I want to say that I've read where needle wheel skimmers can be a quieter generally than venturi. Not sure that always applies. Personally I'd look for a pump that's not hard-plumbed to the skimmer (I.e. a piece of silicone between pump and skimmer boyd) and one with a robust air intake muffler set up.

Thanks Jon, yeah wife was like what is that noise lol. It is a needle wheel pump but it's got clear tubing connecting it to the skimmer. Only an inch away, with a very little muffler. Basically open headers lol

I am looking for a dc skimmer. I was thinking about a coral box c9. Check out the specs on it. It might be a good fit for you that doesn't break the bank. The coral box d700 would also probably work for the tank size you are lookingredients for. They both have decent user reviews by hobbyists.
