What heater do you use?

My sump is installed in my garage, with this cold weather the tank is getting cool... I've never actually owned a heater that worked flawlessly, and most that I have researched have negative reviews. Is there a heater that should work as intended? I'd prefer to have a controller either emote probe so it will measure temp coming into sump.

I would not trust any heater, any of them can fail. Some type of fail safe is of the utmost importance. My controller is the most important part of my heating.

I do use Aqueon pro heaters (two, one in the sump, one in the overflow). Two are better than one IMO.

May want to add two with lower wattages that equal up to or a lil less than recommended for your size.

I've yet to hear bad reviews for the Cobalt Neotherm heaters.

I agree with Whitney on this one. Two smaller heaters are the way to go. That way if one sticks on it will only be a few degrees higher in the tank and you can catch it before it becomes a problem.
