Hiya, Anyone have an eggcrate top for a 75 gallon they have lying around they're not using? I've lost two fish in the last 30 days due to carpet surfing. I ran my 46 gallon with no top for years and never had this happen. Apparently this isn't working in this version and I really don't want to loose anymore fish. Thanks! Kim/Benton, AR
Kim, I would suggest a top made out of the clear mesh like we did at the demonstration at a previous meeting. If you need details please call me. The egg crate will block too much light from your tank. Just google diy aquarium screen top you should find directions on several links.
Bulk Reef Supply sells a DIY mesh screen kit on their website which is reasonably priced and simple to make. I did one for my nano.
Hiya, gotcha! Have I mentioned my husband runs for the hills if he sees any kind of tools in my hands? I'm not very crafty. Kim/Benton, AR
Hiya, Okay pulled up bulk reef supplies youtube video. I might be able to do this. It doesn't look all that hard. Kim/Benton, AR
It's not hard at all Kim! I would buy the 1/4" clear netting from BRS but I would get the frame, spline and spline tool at Lowe's or Home Depot. Same stuff but lots cheaper than BRS.
Oh! LOL I'm techno challenged. Couldn't figure out how to rotate the image on my new phone. Kim, I do have an extra piece of netting. I can bring it to the next meeting if we can't get together sooner.
Hiya, Went to Home depo to pick up the stuff to do these lids. I didn't realize there were so many types of screen. I know now to use the metal, plastic or the galvanized mesh...so what do I use? Kim/Benton, AR
I'm going to bring you a package of the clear 1/4" plastic netting to the meeting on the 21st. All you need is the frame material, the spline (the cord that goes in the groove in the frame and holds the netting in place) and the spline tool.
Hiya, David....I completely forgot you said you had some. Been under a bit of stress the last week. Thanks again for reminding me!!! Kim/Benton, AR
