I knew when I ordered the new tank from glasscages.com, that I would be dealing with a lot of silicone and it's true, they make a mess. I've gotten most of the easy parts but I'm more worried about the places near to the seams. Should I just leave well enough alone or is there a way to make it look better?

  2. Why is it such a mess? Isn't the glass cages people the ones that make the aquariums that you have to meet them on the interstate somewhere to pick it up. The silicone on my main tank is almost gone from using razorblades to clean the glass for years. I am surpised that it hasn't leaked yet. Now that I have talked about it - I will go home in the morning and it will be leaking. You just wait - things like that happen to me. :)

I don't think a little extra silicone will be an issue, your tank will be so beautiful no one will even know the silicone is there. I would just trim up any obvious overage on the front and in a few months you won't be able to see it anyway.

I agree, once it looks decent leave well enough alone. It isn't worth the risk of weakening the seal.
