Timer for JBJ LED light?

    Hi,

I recently purchased a new JBJ 8 gallon nano (RL-8-FP) from a LFS. It comes with a dimmable 10W LED lamp with a touch switch. I didn't realize the switch type at first, and then realized I couldn't get it to work with a timer... you have to physically touch the lamp and turn it on each time the timer cycles.

I'm not very technically competent... but I was just wondering there was any way to jury-rig or work around it. I would really like to use a timer to ensure a reasonable constant day/night cycle.

    Thanks!!!

  2. Having trouble finding the light, is it a "flipper"? Does the light not plug into the wall outlet? More info please.

    Sorry about that.

Here is a link to the company page: http://www.jbjlighting.com/aquariums/rimless8G10GFlatPanel.php

It does plug into the wall. When the timer cuts the power off, the light goes out. However, when the timer comes back on, the light does not power up until it is touched to turn it on.

I figure there isn't anything that can be done, but I just thought I would check to see if anyone had any ideas.

Thanks so much for your help.

Wow, major design flaw. The website has no useful information. I have no ideas for solution!

Probably so. I didn't realize that a timer wouldn't work... never occurred to me to check for something like that. I always use a timer on my tanks. I'll just work with it, though.

    Thanks so much!!
