I was wondering what test kits everyone is using and if anyone has dun a accuracy test on any of the brands right now im using API im thanking of switching to salifert
I use Salifert for everything but pH (get that from my Apex). Don't know about accuracy but they are surprisingly consistent when I have checked. I've heard a lot of people claim the API ammonia always registers 0.25 but I have one and it always agrees with the Salifert and its color chart is easier to read to me.
I use Red Sea for calcium, mg, and nitrates. I use a Hanna checker for alkalinity and phosphates. I like salifert test kits too.
ya my API always shows 0.25 but iv been getting swings n the nitrate test this past weeks test it showed my nitrates at like 80 iv never had nitrate that high even if I had something dead in the tank iv been doing a 15 gal water change each week don't know im going to check it again tomorrow and if its still high im going to do a 20 gal change but I thank im going to switch to salifert
I use an API as I have a fairly new tank and had the same issue with my ammonia (not sure if it was 0 or .25) but solved it by using new saltwater as a baseline sample & comparing the color to a sample from my tank. I'm looking Salifert & Elos for magnesium, calcium and alkalinity.
I also use an API test kit. It does good for me always consistent and accurate, and also isn't pricey.
