Well, today the wifey went home on lunch and found our snowflake eel on the floor dried out and deceased. He had crawled out of a hole about 1" by 1/2" next to the filter.  So for anyone out there who has snowflake, the tight fitting canopy thing means NO HOLES AT ALL!!

This is only the second fish we have lost since starting our tanks and by far the favorite.

The general rule of thumb with eels is, if a pencil can fit through it then so can an eel

duly noted, and he was FAT!! probably a little bigger than a marks-a-lot marker.

I have read so many similar post of eels escaping... I have come to believe there are only 2 scenarios with eels - Ones that have escaped & ones that will escape.

6mmedic has a really nice Snowflake eel he is looking to get rid of as he wants a reef tank.  If you are interested in another one.  He is very healthy.

we are definitely going to get another eel, we just don't know what type yet. A snowflake is probably my first choice, but the wifey has to have  a say as well. She wants a tesselatta or a jeweled moray, but the tesselatta gets WAY to big, ( 6 feet ) and I like snowflakes better than jeweleds.

Thanks for the tip though, I'll see if I can talk her into it.

yup ill sell ya my eel!  I love it but i want to get my tank to a full reef tank.  If you want to see a picture of it its the eel that was in the photo contest.  Ive still got a couple of fat happy triggers too!!  Thanks for looking.
