Are you guys using acrylic tanks for sumps? If so, where did you get it?

no acrylic for me, thought i'd like to one day, for the tank and the sump.

right now i'm using a 30 long with some baffling, worked pretty good for the last 5 years or so.

When designing a sump and skimmer placement, does the effluent from the skimmer drain back into the same compartment or is it directed into the next so that skimmed water is not mixed back in with the raw water?

I'm going to have my skimmer filtered water drain directly into the refugium area. Even though some unskimmed water will overflow into the refugium area as well. But I am not sure if it really makes a difference in the overall water quality on how you direct the skimmed water flow.

In the future if you obtain a calcium reactor its a good idea to have its effluent drip into the refugium for sure, so that the macro algae utilizes the excess carbon dioxide.

I got a 29g glass tank today for my sump. We decided to save some money over acrylic. Randy and I are going to attempt drilling it for the external pump connection. How do we determine where the hole should be? Do we need to determine the pump position and drill the hole so that the pipe is horizontal from the sump to pump? Or does the pump inlet need to be lower than the sump bulkhead so water will flow downhill into the pump for priming?
