Anyone know if the monthy meeting will be shown today? A couple of us are dialed in, but it's not on the air
I do not know what pfft means but I am pretty sure that it is along the lines of the worthless comment. There seems to be a lot of posts lately that look to attack one thing or another on the forums. The live steaming is very nice when we have the ability and people to set up prior to the meeting it is definitely a great benefit. Until this thread only several people in the last three months have had any comment one way or the other about live streaming. I am glad to hear that people are interested in viewing the meetings online but I think there are better was of getting that point across. We will be sure to stream the Hot Springs meeting and hopefully can make or clubs ability to do this better.
ahh ... its okay really...I wouldnt take the worthless thing as a sign of downfalll... some of us were unable to make it to the meeting but woudl have liked to seen the acrilic part of it on live streem...I talked to sam earler and know the complications of it all...
Chris - this thread... was really a "real time" thread... just trying to find out if the meeting was going to be broadcast - as several have been in the past - you have done an excelent job - broadcasting them. They do imo have a real value to the club & are a great tool when they can be used - I am sure there are limitations to how & when they can be broadcast. In hindsight... I wish I would have asked this question... Anyone know if the monthy meeting will be shown ... days in advance. All the best - I appericate all you do for the club !!!
I had just not but enough emphasis on getting this tech better to use because I did not recognize any demand. Rest assured that we will do better as I have a FireWire camera and we purchased a USB that Sam is supposed to be up an running with as well - ( right Sam) Between the two of us we will make sure that this option at meetings does not get neglected.
for the ecuse of the acrlick was done in shope that no reason not to film and kevin had already agreed to let them fim it but no one thought to bring if its such a hasel to do and hook up why did we waist the money to buy it
Streaming the video during the meeting is cool in a techie kind of way, but I also think it keeps people from coming to the meetings. Especially if they know they can go watch it in their computer room, and not drive to it. Another cool idea would be to video the work shops, edit them and upload them to you tube. Then you could link them to our forum on work shop how to/DIY videos for people to watch at any time. Â
That was what I was thinking. Let's record them and post them for people watch later. That would be good in case someone needed a reminder on a name of a product or something.
Recording would be great, is anyone willing to do the recording and editing. I have an HD digital camcorder that we could use.
It would be good to start as soon as we can for when the joomla gets online we will already have some content to add to it.
well after catching up on reading the forum it seems my <span><span>Pfft</span></span> comment at least revealed the need And interest in the video ability of the meetings/ events. to be perfectly honest it was one of the reasons i joined the forum to begin with. i was pretty impressed, being a tech person myself, that you would Even offer such an option... Camera, lots of wires, connectivity, configuration.... not to Mention someone to Do it All!  So i joined with the optimism that i could possibly learn something from these Folks , attend as many meetings as i could/be active... make a few friends, and have a good experience Reef Keeping. and if i could not make a meeting Hey, They have a <span><span>Webcam</span></span>... Awesome!... Just so happens i joined on Thursday i think and the monthly meeting was the next Saturday, had to work that first one so i try the <span><span>webcast</span></span> thingy. not working or <span><span>im</span></span> an Idiot that cant figure it out... no big deal ill make the next meeting and tell them that the <span><span>webcam</span></span>Idea was Brilliant and needed to be in operation and could be a very popular Concept, its not being used Enough. And that I would Help in anyway possible. And that i understood the complexities of the whole scheme at hand. Its not easy to broadcast on a <span><span>wh</span></span><span><span>im</span></span>, it Requires Tinkering and Time in which Both are in Short supply at the meetings as we all know... anyway i was assured that it was being worked on and it should be up and running next meeting... Cool Awesome... i really appreciate the time, effort and equipment that you guys have donated to do this... so i have been able to make all the meetings this last year up till the last two. so i am assuming that since ive seen the camera and computer present at the last several meetings, having tripped over the camera a time or two, that the <span><span>HiTech</span></span> Prospect was in working order. not having any feedback or request for help concerning the functionality, i assumed it was working, not having confirmed it for myself. still pretty impressed at this point. Somebody was at least taking the time to set up the equipment whether it worked or not. I <span><span>didnt</span></span> ask or Push the subject because it was Not a deal breaker for me or a concern at the time. Icing on the cake thing... would be nice but no big deal...so i tried again for the Feb. meeting thinking This will be awesome... Jump rite in and watch from Work!!!.. talked to a few members while waiting on the feed to start and no go... had been waiting all month to go and last minute could not make it... pretty disappointed. so i posted PFFFT WORTHLESS! meaning the <span><span>HiTech</span></span> Prospect has its Pitfalls. <span><span>Hitech</span></span> as it may be it never works when you want it to. Never considering that you did not Broadcast at all. Sorry for stepping on any toes but i meant no Harm, only disgust for equipment malfunction. I Realize that Live Feed has its Limits and you guys are no exception. I appreciate the effort made to make it available at Any time... and I'm sorry if you took it personal, it was Not my extension. Merely an random case of frustration. Take no offense.  On the other hand however, i am hoping to see more Fruitful Discussions about the Nuts and Bolts of Reef Keeping Rather than the Nuts and Bolts of Forum Keeping. I feel like i know more about By_Laws, Tax-Laws, and Out-Laws than i do carbonate to bicarbonate ratios, <span><span>Pro's</span></span> and Con's to 2 parts vs calcium reactors, <span><span>probiotics</span></span>... Where's the Beef? when i <span><span>dr</span></span>ive for 3or4 hrs. and spend 100 bucks on gas i want to talk about Reef Business not Forum Business. nothing personal but IMO forum business should be conducted between the officers and any Interested Members wanting to participate in separate"Business" meetings Outside of the Monthly Meetings. JMO. this being the root of my frustration possibly. And anytime you think i am out of line, misinforming or rude in Any fashion by All Means say something! I have been Passionately involved with this hobby for 40 yrs, I seriously Doubt you will Hurt my f<span>eelings.
