My Pinpoint salinity meter readout is starting to go out, so I am going to give this a try. http://cgi.ebay.com/DIGI-REEF-SPECI...yZ117435QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It is alot cheaper than the Pinpoint and reads temperature also. I will post how it does in the next few days.
Follow up results Sorry it took me a little while, but here is what I have come up with so far. The package is very nicely done. The inside is felt or velvet lined, and has spare batteries along with calibration fluid This is the unit (Pinpoint) that is not acting properly. This is my plastic salinity box used for comparison, since most people use one similar to this. Here are some pics of it being used. more So far I really like it. I am sending my Pinpoint out to be serviced today, since it may cost only $10.00- $20.00 dollars they said. If its not the circuit board. If they repair it I will post results compared to that unit also, but that will be later. As pictured above the new electronic meter is reading about 1 point higher than the plastic box. No big deal. The water came out of my water change garbage can, and still needs more salt added to bring it to the correct number. There is variance in each plastic box's reading anyway. You can usually take two or three different boxes test the same water, and come up with slightly different values. Once again should not be a big deal as long as you use one or the other consistantly. Some eye candy too!! zoas in 215 display A happy couple in our Aqua-Pod Feather duster in our Aqua-Pod Big fish in a little tank. Hes getting ready to get moved to the big boy tank soon.
