    Hiya,

Is there a type of tape that can be used underwater? I need to connect two tubes together and there is a gap between them. One end will fit into the other end of the other tube, but there's a gap and I was going to tape it to seal the connection.

I'm not understanding what's going on.

    Hiya,

I bought a surface skimmer and it's supposed to hook up to a canister filter. The item is made by Flugal. I'm trying to hook it up to my penguin HOB filter. The intake tube for the HOB filter is larger then the intake tube on the skimmer. So, I'm not getting a 100% secure seal between the two. Granted, it's working, but I'd rather the skimmer pull all the water into the filter.

May have to epoxy putty it together not sure if there is anything safe under water as far as tape goes.

    Couple of suggestions -

If the sizes are close a short piece of vinyl tubing that fits the smaller. Heat up the end for the larger piece with a hair dryer until it is flexible enough to slide over it.

If the whole thing is under water then you may be able to do a wrap or two of electrical tape over the smaller until you get a friction fit when it slides into the larger. The adhesive will degrade but the tape itself will stay in place.

    Hiya,

I hate using apoxy, my hands aren't strong enough to kneed that stuff long enough for it to work.

Where would I find Vinyl tubing? The size isn't to different. Maybe take the two pieces to the hardware store and see if they can help me put them together. Grin...though, it will be a two person job to put the contraption back into the tank.

Vinyl tubing can be found at home depot, lowes, ace etc..

If the connection is super close you can use a bit of gel super glue to keep it connected.

There is 100% silicone tape that you can use. You can get it at Home Depot. If you can't find any let me know. I've got plenty of it. Not sure of I would use electrical tape. The silicone tape does not have an adhesive it is pretty much thin strips of flexible silicone.

    Hiya,

Not close enough to use superglue. Not sure what I did today, but the skimmer seems to be running just fine. I may open up the mid-column intake and see if it affects it any.

If it looses it's suction, I'll take the two ends to home depo and get one of the guys to help me find a piece of tubing to work.

    Thanks!
