my question is what size tank does a porcupine puffer or a picasso trigger need the l f s says 55 will be ok for both but i just wanted an unbias opinion
i have a 55 gallon tank w/ 40lbs of live rock in it so far probably gonna add another 15 to 20 lbs. in about a month i dropped a few damsels in there just to make sure the tank is fully cycled

From what I've read, you need at least 70g for the trigger and at least 90g for the puffer. Hey Norman, what do you think?

i have a book that i bought at the fish store that i go by. also liveaquaria.com is a pretty good place.

the picasso trigger is one of the most agressive if i am not mistaken so i would be scared of putting him in a smaller tank with other fish.

You guys are right, I wouldn't go with the larger puffers and triggers in less than 125gal or so. Some of them get to the 12" range and larger, not to mention very agressive. If you want puffers and such, look at the smaller ones like the hawiian spotted, or even the cowfish types. There are some very nice colorful ones you can have without the agressiveness. The green and brown bird wrasses are very nice and move almost constently. They are mildly agressive and make a good show. I like to talk about fish compatability so give me a call anytime, I'm one of the members listed in the help forum, so lets hear from some people. Also welcome Travis and hope to see you at the next meeting.

Don't feed your puffer or trigger live feeders and you should not have a problem keeping them with other fish. Also feed them everyday.

http://www.porcupinepuffer.com/ Has a lot of good info on keeping Porcupine Puffers in a reef tank. This info can somewhat translate over to MOST puffers.
