Well we finaly got power back late yesterday. We were one of the lucy ones this time only lost the chiminy cap on shop. We had a generator that we bought after the last big storm. We waited till Tuesday morning to start it. We lost one cleaner shrimp out of he whole deal. If you dont have a back up power source you need one. I bought a large one from Max tools it was a lot cheeper. [url2='http://www.maxtool.com/':35fot5xf]http://www.maxtool.com/[/url2:35fot5xf] I hope everyone is OK.

Glad to hear the storm didn't take to many fish and coral with it.  I hope everyone had equal luck with keeping their systems up and running.

I've never lost power for more than a few hours since I've been at college.  Which brings up the question of besides a generator what steps should be taken to keep a system going during a power outage.  I've read about wrapping the tank with blankets, doing frequent water changes,  taking a pitcher and simply poring water from the tank back into the tank over and over again for oxygen, battery powered air pumps, and running the essentials (return pump, koralia's, heater) off of a power converter from your car cigarette lighter to a box/ballast with standard electrical outlet.

What else can/needs to be done in a pinch, keeping in mind that yes a generator is the best option but not always an option with last minute power outages.  I feel this should be common knowledge for everyone in the hobby.  So any and all information all in one place seems like a good idea to have on the forum : )
