Hi folks I am in the planning stages of getting into saltwater and would like to network with folks in this area, I live in LR and hope to get water in the tank soon. My first question is which lfs does everyone favor. I have been to northside in maumelle and I found the store to be clean and well presented but the staff there wasnt very helpfull. The fish tank in lr was clean and well presented and the staff was very freindly and lastly we went to the one in hot springs we found the store to be ok but the tanks looked dirty to me and the gentelman running the store told us to just use tap water and salt mix I was initially impressed with this guy till he said that as I have read that rodi is the way to go. THanks Rickey
Welcome Ricky, I think your initial impression was correct. There is also a store in Searcy The Fish Bowl and both the Bowl and the Tank are sponsors; with membership you get 10% off livestock at the Tank and 20% off at the Bowl and I have high praise for both. If you have any questions simply post on the forum and you will get a response and for the most part they members are very knowledgable. Feel free to PM me at anytime.
And you are right ro/di is the way to go. You can get ro/di fresh and saltwater at The Fish Tank, it's something like $1.30 a gallon. Welcome to razorback reef. What set up do you have?
Thanks folks, right now all I have is the tank its a 20H, since lighting is the biggest expense I am getting that first. Based on reviews and other forums I have just about decided on this fixture http://www.reefbreeders.com/value_led_fixtures.html thought id get the 90 degree optics. I need to stay in that price range and thought this would be a better route long term that the t5ho lights we want to get some softies, mushrooms maybe a clam later and start slowly with the fish. If anyone has other suggestions they are sure welcome. I would like to post a build list later and get opinions where would one post this list. I didnt see a build thread.
