My name is Michael from Jonesboro and I'm new here. I have a 90 gallon with 40 gallon sump. It has just finished cycling and I really have no idea where I want to go with it. Right now the only thing in it is some hair algae and snails. Lol

    Hiya,

Welcome!!!! Ahh, now the fun begins....stock your tank. Do your research before you start adding. As for the hair algae, do a good water change, cut your lights back to 8-10 hours and add more snails. You can't have to many of them. This will pass as the tank gets more established. Also, if you're not using RO water, that will also help clear the algae up.

Thanks Kim. I am using RO/DI water. Just did a large water change and have the lights off at the moment. Just letting the skimmer do its thing. I do have some cheato in the sump so hopefully that will help as well. It would be nice if we had a good LFS here. Looks like anything I get I will have to order online or drive to little rock.

    Hiya,

I thought there was a good store in Jonesboro. Sounds like you're handling it the right way. Feel free to post any questions and we'll try to get them answered.

We have reef escapes and petco. Petco is horrible and reef escapes never had much of anything in stock. They always say they can order whatever but if that's the case I might as well order it myself.

Vast is a relative term....at least in my case:D. There are several guys here that have been doing this for a lot of years that I depend on. Look forward to seeing your tank grow up. They really are like babies that mature over time.

Thanks! I'm new to corals. My last tank was a seahorse tank with plastic corals. Lol after seeing John Carrolls tanks, I decided to do a reef tank this time. I may at some point get a smaller tank and start raising seahorses again if my wife doesn't kill me first. I'm going to pick up some frags (red monticap, red digi, and green stellata) this weekend from John. I may leave with more than that by the time it's over lol. If I keep going I'll have to get more rock to put in the display.
