I had some glass cut so I can build the overflow box on my 100 gallon I recently drilled. I then realized glass is see through and I need to hide my overflow kit. I thought of a couple different ideas on how to make the overflow box black to match the background, but wanted to hear any other input first before I screw something up. My two ideas are to paint the inside of the overflow box black, and the other is to use the extra black background I have and put it on the inside of the overflow box and silicone the edges so no water will ever get inbetween the glass and the plastic background. I honestly have no idea, so if anyone has any input or a better suggestion I'm all ears!
Re: Re: more overflow questions I have 2 ideas 1. Go to diversified plastics next time your in little rock, get them to cut you some black acrylic for 15 bucks have someone cut teeth in it then get it bent to your liking. I think Kevin has a do dad to cut teeth in an overflow and something to bend it with. 2. Go to glasscages.com and get them to send you an overflow. I think its like 29 bucks or cheaper. I'm not sure the paint would hold very long under saltwater on glass. Raffle grabber
New question. The water level inside my overflow box keeps rising and dropping. I am using the megaflow kit. Basically it is draining down which I think is the water in the tube creating a siphon and sucking more water then it finally is able to break apart and will rise back up a little past where it is supposed to. Then start the whole process over again. You can hear a sucking noise when it breaks the syphon and starts to rise again. I have a mag 12 on it with about 4 feet of head loss. It doesn't do this at all when I turn down the pump to about half. Any advice on how to fix this problem?
Make a bigger hole in your down pipe it its too big put a bit of epoxy putty over it and start again. That's what I had to do with mine. Dunno if this helps or not. Raffle grabber
