But have you actually done the mods? I'm looking at a Tunze Turbelle Stream (w/controller) but $50 looks better than $300 .

  3. Nope.

And I doubt the controller can be duplicated as a reasonable DIY project.

If the MJMod can be done for less than $50, I don't care about the controller. :) I currently have five MJ1200s so two could be modded for about $50.

The lowest price I've found is $316 for the single pump Tunze Stream kit.

After getting all pumped (punny, huh?) up about a closed-loop circulation system, I'm chickening out of drilling my new tank. I can't find a glass shop that wants to do it, Lynn at Marineworld doesn't drill tanks and I'd rather not ask a friend to do it in case something happens and the tank breaks. This is why I'm looking at other circulation options.

I just watched the video and it really looks simple. I'll order a kit and let y'all know how it turns out.

Those of you at the Splash event saw the modified MJ. It moves a LOT of water. I hooked it up in my 46g bow front and it has too much flow for that small tank. The turbulence was so severe that water splashed over the sides.
