Well I was supposed to go pick up the 150 in a week and the guy text me today and says he solana sprung a leak and now he needs to use the 150 till it's replaced. So if it takes very long I'm looking for another around 150 gallon tank already drilled. Anybody got one?

Well I think we have decided to order a 120 from glasscages. I have a couple questions. What is everyones experience with glass cages? I would like to have a couple tangs fish wise, maybe a purple and a naso. Is the 120 gonna be big enough? The dimensions are 4 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot. I really wanted a 150 at 5 feet long but the 120 is gonna be about $500 all total, the 150 was gonna be close to $800 and I just couldn't see spending another $300 for an extra foot of tank. I want this to be a setup that I can run for quiet a while and be a real show stopper. What is everyone's opinion of this size tank. IT's gonna be viewable from both the front and the back (calfo on the end) and one end. I think we can make it a really nice tank but at the same time I got that "bigger is better" mentality. Is 120 a good size tank?

Well I just read a TON of poor reviews about glasscages. I have spoken to them on the phone once and the guy was pretty short with me and rude. Like he didn't really have time to talk. Told me if I wanted a tank I needed to "hurry up" and get it paid for. Think I will look for someone else. Anyone got any good places to buy tanks reasonably priced?

You may ask some of the members, I think a few of them have bought from glasscages...

Well thats a good size for a small tank. I think the perfect reef tank is the 220 which is 84x24x25. Large enough to give you growing room for your corals and fish, and using equipment that is not too large and expensive. Anything larger I feel needs to move to the commercial size and expensive pumps, skimmers, not to mention lighting. The 220 is probably the largest reef tank I would have in a house, unless I hit the lottery or something. Blake just got his 280, which is 36" wide. That would be even better if you have the space. His is built in the wall so it works in his house just fine. The perfect tank for you fits your available space and pocket book, whatever the size. Just take your time and set it up right the first time and you will have the "show stopper" you want.
I personally would buy a glass cages tank without hesitation, my frag tanks are from them, if I know an army of people to move it !!! They are built like a tank and I think are a good product. Most are custom made and delivery can be arranged. I think the problems we have heard of is people who get in a hurry and set the tank up before the silicon is completly cured and there have been some leaks. If done properly there should be no problems.

How long should one wait on the silicone to cure Norman? Also I just got a price on a 120 from Paradise Pets in Benton (a Marineland I believe) and it was right on target with what glass cages charges.

Glass Cages give you a build date that they build it and tell you to wait about 3 weeks from that date.

Correct, it is reccomended to wait at least 3 weeks and better 4 for total curing time. Most are delivered before that time and some people choose to go ahead and set it up presenting problems long term. The larger and wider the tank the longer I would wait. Maybe Blake will jump in and tell how long he is planning to wait.

OK, pet country up in conway shot me a price of less than 500 for a 120 gallon tank with dual overflows and a life time warranty. Either oceanic or aqueon, she couldn't remember which. Is that a good deal?

thats not a bad price but you usually only get the warranty if you buy their stand which will be another 3-400.00

Well, I'm putting this one in a wall so no matter the brand it won't be on "their" stand. I think it's a pretty good price though.

just my opinion but if your not using their stand then theres no point in paying more for the warranty because they will not stand behind it if it leaks. just get the best deal you can find.

So far that is the best deal....it's on sale. Thats even cheaper than glasscages.com and they won 't be coming through my area for another 6-8 weeks. Plus I've heard really mixed reviews on them. Most other places wanted 6-800 for the same tank.

I'm a little tight on space for a 220. My house is good sized but not that big. Wife really likes the 120, and for $459 it really fits the ol pocket book at this time. My only concern is if I will be able to comfortably house my tangs. The possible choices are: purple tang, yellow tang, powder blue, powder brown. No more than two of those. Then mostly smaller eye catching fish such as dwarf angels, dragonettes, etc. I only plan on keeping a max of 10-12 fish in this tank. Most will be in the 3-5" adult range. I just want a few centerpiece tangs. I guess it all comes down to what Norman says. They idea tank is what fits my space and budget and if I take my time when people walk through the door their jaw will drop.

I have 2 tanks from them and I have no complaints. Go with the 135 it is 6 foot for about the same price. Have the overflows moved into the corners though. They take up alot of room. Or tell them to just make one overflow.

My tank is 72"L x 36"W x 25"H. Glasscages has a sheet that comes with the tank that says for tanks up to 25" tall should wait at least 3 weeks after the manufacture date and tanks 30" and taller should wait at least 4 weeks. My tank was manufactured on March 16th, and I am planning on waiting more than 4 weeks. I don't figure there will be water in the tank before the end of the month. I figure the longer I wait the better off I am.

I do agree with Norman. From what I have read, the tank failures are because people don't wait long enough. The amount of money we put into these systems should be enough to make us take more time planning everything out.

I am planning on buying a few more of the frag tanks like Norman and I have in the future from them, and I plan on enjoying my new 280 for a long time, so I guess I say glasscages is a safe choice when it comes to tanks.

Oh, and one other nice thing about Glasscages, you can get any size hole anywhere you want in the tank. Lets take a look at the size tank you are looking at getting. The 120 (48"L x 24"W x 25"H) you are looking at. The drain on the one from Aqueon (AllGlass) or Oceanic will have a 1" drain and 3/4" return bulkheads, but the glasscages tank with the reefready option will come with 1.5" drain and 1" return SCH 80 bulkheads. Plus, you want that over flow a little wider so you can have one more 1.5" drain added to allow for a little more flow through? No problem.

Don't think I am trying to tell you to go with them or else, I am just trying to show you some of the benefits that a lot of people forget about when ordering a custom tank. Norman is right though, pick the tank that fits the house and the pocket book. I waited a little longer and saved a little more money to get my new tank, and I was able to the get bigger size tank like I originally WANTED instead of settling for the narrower 240 (72"L x 30"W x 25"H).
