I know... I know... Sounds funny for someone to ask for a demonstration but I REALLY want one of these things. They are so high though. I was just wondering if someone that has one could possibly bring one over and slap it on the side of my tank and let it run for a while, show me how it works and for me to just look at how one would act on my tank. I could arrange for food and beverages for the time spent. Just really a thing I want to see work and try out for a bit before taking that plunge (and possibly convincing the other half we need one)
These are some really nice powerheads, I have never owned one but seen them work. sdfbeanhead uses several and really likes them but I do not think they are the king of the aquarium powerheads. There are a lot of halves of these on eBay which I asume means that it has some problems that may have been overcome by now. Take a look at this article that came out in Advanced Marine Aquarist Mag: [url2='http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2011/7/aafeature':2oje4lr7]http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2011/7/aafeature[/url2:2oje4lr7]
I reread the article and took a good look at the flow graphs. Looks like that the Vortech has the best overall flow rate from the center. They are so expensive though.
I still think that the closed loop system is going to win out with me simply b/c of the cost but I would love for someone to be able to make me a believer...
I have the MP40 and love it as soon as I can justify it I plan to add a second on my 120. For your tank I would go with the MP60. I have not mastered all the functions, but it is easy to use.
Everything that I am reading says two MP40s over one MP60 on reverse cycles is the way to go... either way its 6 to 8 hundred I just dont have for a trolling motor head to put on my tank... LOL
I see how it is... All the people with them dont want to part with them for a day of good food and choice beverages... Fine... Be that way.... LOL Alas.. I will sit at home and stare at my tank and wonder what it would look like with the power of a vortech....
Re: Re: Looking for a MP 40 Demo.... I just got an idea go get 2 trolling motors and find a way to get them to pulse in your tank that's a redneck wavemaker. Lol I'm just saying. Raffle grabber
Its the same principle.. Trolling motors are 12 volt though. You would have to ahve a converter. Still, if you put one in and had a cage around the blades you would have a hell of a power head...
I found one for about the same on ebay.. I have the go to get one so I will be searching this week...HARD... Plan is for two... So I am looking for the best deal I can get.
Also coralife has ne wavemakers out get 2 2600 gph powerheads with controller for 300 or 2 5600 gph powerheads for 500. Raffle grabber
I read the review on the coral lifestyle. I still say that that system will be no different than two koralia fours on a duo though. We shall see. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
