OK, my 125 G tank is plumbed thanks to my friend Kevin Koplen. Now I am looking for ideas on how one might suspend eggcrate in a tank as opposed to it being on PVC.

    Any ideas?

I've played with this before and it worked pretty well.  I took a couple elbows and pvc and created a sealed square then put egg crate on top of that with zipties.  So that it floated on the top of the water.  Then I attached a piece of rock to the bottom so that it hovered right in the middle of the tank.

This probably wont work for anything at all but it was a fun experiment.

Either add something to the frag rack that floats with weight on it, your have to play with the weight to get it where you want it or add magnets to the sides of the rack and you can move it where and when you want.  Keep us posted on what you come up with.

I am still considering all you input. Magnets are out due to the size of the rack 6'x18", but keep those ideas coming.

Use multiple smaller magnets. They have very strong ones that can be small and hold that weight

    Greg,

Is this thing going to have a sand bottom and rock work or something??   I mean, is it goin to be a reef tank with a frag rack along the back..... I guess I am not catching your drift at 6'x18".

Why not just build racks that sit on the bottom and tier up?

When I seen the tank and heard you were putting in that big of a frag tank I was thinking something along the lines of Coral Maturnaty in Portugul.

    Something like this:http://www.thefragtank.ca/forum/index.php?topic=23.0

Mann it's a standard 125 gallon tank. I choose it for my frag tank so I would have the option to use it for a regular tank should I change my mind, as I often do. I don't plan to use any substrate, but I plan to load it with rock. I would be easy to just build a PVC structure and that may be what happens. But my goal is to have it supported from the top if I could get a good idea.

Based off the one above.... I think it would be reallly nice as you could use the arms to step up each individual one.

at 1'x18" a peice you could have 6 ranging from deep to shallow and still be able to take them out one at a time that way you wouldnt have to worry with a HUGE rack or anything, pull the egg create out and xchange it when it gets nasty and put it back in.

Would make servicing the bottom of the tank eaiser too.....

The trick is they are made out of acrilyc and well..... Someone would have to make them...lol

Mann that is awesome, I have 2' square black egg crate. But again is there anyone out there who could make these for me? Or does anyone know a company who would make these? But back to the point this is exactly what I had in mind. Thanks Mann.
