anyone in the club got any weldon 4 or 16?

or know of a local source or different brand name ?

got my sump plumbed but my silicon didnt hold the internal baffles in so i had to drain it and take the baffle out and start over ...

but as a side note..... the plumbing didnt leak and i can almost run the refugium with full throttle open as long as the quick dump valve to the return area is open.

    sigh...

    thanks

I would go with Weldon 3 instead of 4. I have a pint of 3 and half a tube of 16. Weldon 4 and 16 are considered Hazardous materials and require you to pay a fee to ship them.

I don't what ACI Plastics in NLR sells. Chris probably does.

but they did have a half gallon of weldon 4 ...

which they gave me .. i repackaged it in a pint and a quart can.

If weldon 4 is a hazardous materal, you can't use it in a tank can you??? I would think not, that's why I'm asking.

If I'm not mistaken it's listed Haz Mat because it's extremely flammable.

all the DIY posts i have read suggested the #4 over 3 due to 4 has a longer working time.

    thats the main difference.

also i got with the people that initally built the sump for me and got with they're vender ( Craftics) and got their craftics #33 shipped in to me...

the 33 is equivalent to the weldon 16 ... comes in small tube and much thicker then 3 or 4 ..

16 (#33) was much easier to use then the 3 or 4 ..

as far as ive read though.. all of them are usable in our situations.

They both are considered extremely flamable and carcinogenic. They are only used as a solvent to bond the acrylic, not a glue. The solvent "melts" the acrylic together and evaporates away leaving only acrylic. Weld-on 16 is a "thickened" version that just contains some acrylic in it.
