Hello saltwater lovers & thanks for this group!!

I have a 75 gallon tank which I have become addicted too. I have a pair of clownfish, bicolor-pseudochromis & my favorites the flame hawkfish & the canary Benny!
My question is since I've gotten the hawkfish I'm not able to turn the lights off due to him becoming very pale, is there something I could do about this?? Which now in turns when the lights are on the time, the dreaded green alga
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure about the hawkfish, but I know my yellow tang turns white when the lights go low. I think it's normal for many fish to do this. As long as they are regaining color when the lights come on, it shouldn't be an issue. I'm sure others here will be able to answer the question better than me though.

    Hiya,

Yeah, completely normal. I couldn't worry about it.

Almost every fish has different coloration at night. It's part of their protection from predators at night. When we dove in the Carribean the Atlantic Blue tangs actually developed dark stripes at night with an almost white background. It was erie how different they were at night.
