  1. We're right at the 24hr point and it hasn't spontaneously combusted. Still looks beat up of course, but it may live. Deton8it, I think at this point it would be wiser to wait a couple weeks befor we frag your share. We fragged yesterday cause it was looking rough and we thought our survival odds may improve incase the large piece crashed. I'll keep you updated on progress!!

Mine looks about the same. It may have just a tad more color today but not much polyp extension. How high in the tank do you have yours Mark?

  3. Very bottom. I haven't moved it. I don't even see polyps anymore, it's really faded and noticing a few places where tissue appears gone. It's not so bad that I'm gonna frag to save, but if it continues to decline I will.

That scares me. On a related note I talked to The Coral Guys. My Coral of the Month will be shipped next week.

Fingers crossed! If it doesn't recover in your tank it won't anywhere. I'm keeping close watch on mine. Can't see any tissue recession even around the cut places. .

  6. Fingers crossed indeed!!

They keep a data base (or they used to) with the picture of the coral you ordered. I would like to see that picture to compare.

Nope that ones not even close. Different color and not as many branches, and a different species. Unfortunately all their pictures look the same color!:D

We definitely got the one we ordered. Mine looks about the same. Do see some polyp extension this evening but there is a little worrisome fading around the cut edges of the base. Probably just trauma from fragging but I'm watching it closely. May move it up just a little towards the end of my light cycle this evening.

I guess we will disagree on that. If you look at the picture that Silent Reefer posted and compare it to the pic I posted they look pretty similar. You can even see the little branch on the bottom of his picture. On Diver's Den it sticks off to our left a little.

lg-011516-155a.jpg I wish there was a way to make both of these visible at the same time. image.jpg

  14. The piece they sent man not be the exact piece, but it probably is from the same colony. I suspect IF and I mean IF it lives it may take months to color back up to it's glory. My tank is stable so there aren't any major adjustments to be made. In an attempt to baby it, I did turn down my LEDS a bit. The white channels were somewhere around 55-60 and now there more like 35% on my center two units. I'm also going to perform a water change today, this is a week ahead of schedule. Without the new coral I wouldn't do a water change this week but really reaching for anything to help this piece stabilize. I will say that even though this piece came in beat up and faded you could still tell when healthy it's gonna be a stunner!

  15. Quick update, still alive, lol
I actually placed about midway up on a rock, most of the tips have a hint of color. I'm thinking this thing is gonna make it!!

Mine is still on the bottom but I'll probably move it up tomorrow. My tips are showing the mint green. Pretty good polyp extension this evening.

I'm trying to figure out how I will attach the coral to the rock work. It's too big to just glue. How do you plan to do it Mark?

  17. I won't place permenantly until deton8it has his part. I'll probably use super glue. At the moment it's kinda hooked into my rock work so no need for glue. No polyp extension on mine yet.

Here it is, in all its browned out glory!! I'll try and provide a weekly chronicle. It's probably safe to cut again, but I think two more weeks Deton8it, maybe it'll start coloring a bit by the too! Haha

I am not in a hurry unless you are. I am coloring up an Acro right now myself. I bought an ugly browned out Acro at the Fish Tank with the intent of trying to rescue it. I stopped (or significantly slowed down) the tissue necrosis and it is starting to color up now.

    A few weeks ago. [IMG]
    Today [IMG]

The camera angle and placement is different but this little Acro is starting to look good. There is a light purple tint to it now.
