What do you use to scrape the inside of your tank glass? I've been trying to use a Mag-Float on my new tank and it just won't do the job. There is some VERY tough bright green algae that it can't remove. I also have a small magnetic scraper with two razorblades in it but they are really worn and I can't find any of the cartridge-type blades anywhere.

I use the Kent scraper that is a razorblade with a foot long handle on it. I end up using it about once every 3 months to get the stuff that the mag can't handle and get near the sand line where I am afraid to go with the mag.

  3. I just use a razor blade and holder that you get from the hardware store in the paint section. I use a magnet with velcro from time to time, but for tank maintenance it is the old arm in the tank for me.

I use a hand held scrapper for the coraline and a mag float for the rest.

Hand held Kent scraper. I can't see paying $25 dollars for a fiberglass stick, so I have the hand held one and get a little wet.

  6. A 2 dollar dowel road that is split on the end holding a flat razor works well.

  7. I just found a new addon for all of us Mag Float users. It is made by Oceans Motions so you can be assured of a good product.

The scraper is called a Mag Scraper and it is also available for Tunze users. It glues on to the magnet using superglue. It uses standard single edge razor blades which are available at any home improvement store for pennies each. This is the reason I chose this blade holder over the standard EZ Blade Scraper. The EZ Blade is wider but replacement blades are $7.99 for apack of 5. For $3.00 I can buy a pack of 100 single edge razors at Lowes.

Price for EZ Blade and a pack of 5 replacement blades, $20.98 plus shipping.
