Easy way to cover back of canopy

I needed to screen the back of my canopy against an escaping jawfish. Most sites list bridal veils or eggcrate light fixtures, but there is (until a problem shows up) a MUCH easier way to do it.....

Home Depot sells DIY gutter guards. They're 5 feet long by 8 inches wide, made of brown 1/2" grids with a fine screen over the entire surface. They cost $1.67 each. The entire gutter guard is plastic, no metal mesh. One long side of the gutter guard has a slightly thicker surface. You can cut the gutter guard with scissors.

Anyhow, I am unable to remove my canopy top from the aquarium (another story). So I simply took long strips of velcro tape to the top and bottom of the gutter guard. I cut out a notch for the cords of about 4", with about 3" of the notch overlapping the canopy to prevent escape, so hopefully nothing will sneak out the side of the gutter guard. I didn't velcro the ends of the gutter guard but it is very firmly in place with about a 2" margin on top and bottom.

I had to stand on a footladder to install the gutter guard, but it took me about 5 minutes. The tank temperature is up slightly, maybe 0.5 degrees or so.

I'll let you know if there are any difficulties with this screen, but it's probably the best I can do with an immoveable canopy.

So far I've never had a fish jump out of this tank (knocking on wood), but then I don't have any prone to jumping..yet. Yes, please keep us posted in this, sounds like a great idea.
