I would like to hear some discussion on an idea I have discussed with Chris several times. I think we need to form some committiees for our special events we do each year such as reef splash, reef fest, wholesale order, frag fest, etc. This would be a short term committee for that event only and overseen by the BOD. Right now the same few people are responsible for setting the event up and making all the arrangements. Lets spread the duties around a little and get some of our newer members involved. I don't want just a post that says I agree or sounds like a good or bad idea. Lets hear what you think and some ideas how to proceed. I would expect a post from all BOD members. If there is a special event that you like to work make it known so we don't omit someone unintentionaly.
I think this is a good idea. We've got to get more people involved so the regular participants don't get burned out. Would it be unreasonable to have a policy that says that every club member must participate in at least one event per year as part of the duties as a member of Razorback Reef?
The club is growing at a fast rate and doing a lot of advertising this last year. This means a lot more work on a few people. If we have separate committee's then there will need to be a folder kept with copies of some of the info from the last year, for each committee to help them along. I agree with this but finding people to commit, I fear, will be a problem. We would probably have to ask in person, that would give us the best result's I think.
Marti I appreciate you jumping in there and deciding to take care of the committee folders. I can't think of anyone more qualified. I'm hoping we can fill most of the committees from the attendence at our regular meetings, then you can ask them in preson. I will help if you need me. Thanks again and great idea
is there a way to make the documents digital? if so they could be uploaded to the webserver and locked down for only the people on the committee to see
Fisher I wasn't volenteering to do it, I was stating my opinion on what needed done. I will be more than willing to help the person who came up with the idea in the first place, as that would be their main responsibility
My only concern is the people that do just join for the discount are still providing monetary support for the club and if we put requirements like that on membership, people will be less likely to become members.
