We were asked to post a journal of the set up of the tank, well it'll be a short one.We got it home, unloaded it and put it in the gagrage for cleaning. We bought several gallons of vinegar and started filling it with water, it leaks like a sieve, So now hubby and I are the proud owners of a POS tank.
Sure if you know some fish that don't need water, or that would like swimming around gagrage floor. lol
No I was not, but I spoke with the vice-president of the club and was told I could try and fix it and if it didn't work out, the club would see about giving me a refund. So I'm thinking about trying to fix it, but I don't know if it will work, the bottom of the tank is some kind of plastic over plywood. I am gonna try something called weld on #16.
weldon products are used to bond acrylic to acrylic... it wont hold from glass to acrylic http://www.tapplastics.com/uploads/pdf/PB-IPS16.pdf
From what 6gun told me is that it isn't the glass that is leaking it is the bottom. There was a crack in the plastic that I didn't see on the bottom channel and I'm not sure how it is bonded to the glass.
i sent a email to DAS directly for more information... hopefully we will get a response... my other suggestion would be call the searcy store .. he has one just like it
He also told me that the overflow box was held in with urethane the same stuff that is used to hold door windows to the window tracks on cars. I would be willing to bet that is what was used to bond the glass to any other material.
I give up I plastic welded the bottom and the plastic stooped leaking and found the silicone has leaks so I cut the silicone out but the plastic frame has the glass glued into it. Its a deep channel of plastic so the bottom is imposable to get loose
