I think my clown fish are going to spawn soon... they are really sticking to the side of this one rock, cleaning it and making what I think are test runs back and forth.

My clowns started spawning about a year ago ever since they spawn every two weeks but haven't tried to raise them.If you are going to try I wish you good luck.

It's not something that I have time to work on right now. but I may play around with it in the future if they do spawn. I think the hardest part is the phytoplankton and rotifers. does anyone make there own phytoplanton?

I have cultured phyto in the past and it is very simple. We had a workshop at one of our meetings a couple years ago on how to build your own phyto culture unit. I can dig the plans up if you are interested. I have one here if you want to see it. Since Kathy L came to Reef Splash I have been considering a set up to try and raise some of the clowns I have that also spawn often. I think this is something that can be done on a small scale in any home system. The rotifer culture is the only thing that needs a little extra care, but still easily done if set up right.
