I was wondering where the best place to purchase them were. There are only a couple of places I can find online, and some of the websites look questionable. The numbers on my aiptasia are increasing. I have tried chemical methods. They will get rid of one, but two seem to pop up in its place. I have tried peppermint shrimp, but they disappeared in my tank. I am leaving the aiptasia alone for now, but do want to invest in the berghia nudibranchs in the near future, and just wanted to see what you all suggested.
Do you think we have enough people with aiptasia problems to keep them fed? If we do that would be great. I don't have any aiptasia now but you never know when it will happen. Good idea Greg.
From what I read, they only have a life span of 6-7 months. And they starve after 7 days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I spent some time talking with the guy at Reeftown which specializes in berghias while at MACNA last year. They seem to know what they're doing.
I have had great results with my filefish I got from the fish bowl in Searcy. I'm sure he could order one for anyone that needs one. They also eat after the aiptasia are gone. Nice peaceful fish. I would recommend them to anyone. Would also do good in a small tank. Also work for Mojano's
Thanks for the tip. They had one yesterday when I went in there. But I hadn't done enough research on them yet, so I didn't pick one up. But I might go back and pick him up after doing some reading.
I am seriously considering going to get the filefish tomorrow. I have read they are mostly reef safe, but some individuals might nip at duncans or clams. I'm not too worried about my duncans, b/c they grow super fast. Was worried about the clams though.
It is possible, I think. It depends on individuals. I've got to figure something out, this aiptasia is getting out of hand. The only thing I'm worried about with adding a fish is what it might do to my water chemistry. I am not running a skimmer, and afraid that I might have to increase feedings for the fish. Everything is pretty balanced in my system, & I don't want to do something that might upset that balance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm interested in the berghia myself. We have a new member than bought some and said they worked like a charm. I'd be up for a group buy
I would prefer the nudibranchs for sure. And I'm probably being overly dramatic about my problem. I've not noticed the aptasia stinging anything yet. But they really are reproducing. If we can figure out a group buy, I'll for sure do it. I can PayPal money. I didn't know if it would be an issue for someone to keep mine in a tank until the next meeting. I didn't know if they would be hard to catch once in a system. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ill do a group buy if anyone want to join. Allen Minton (hope I spelled that right) was kind enough to recommend Reeftown.com and they recommend Mediums which are on sale and price is based on the number ordered. Please give me a heads up how many you want and once a get a total we can see price and shipping. i won't order your till your paid or if someone else wants to get the group buy Ill let you know how many I want…if someone has a better price of shipper please chime in…. Iam also going to contact them to see if clubs get special pricing
Hiya, I would be cautious about the file fish. I had one in my tank to take care of the aiptasia, but when they were gone, he took out my zoa's and then went after my leather. He could have been the exception, but who knows. I think I could use two of the nuti's. Anyone know how much tank they cover? Kim/Benton, AR
