Which skimmer do I need to get? I have a 260gal reef and fish tank, 50 g sump and ~20 g refugium. The ASM 4X is rated for 450 g and RS-250 rated for 250g. I know the ASM is a knockoff of euroreef, but is it of good quality?
Any input and suggestions would be appreciated!
    Thanks

I just set up an ASM-5 on my 220gal reef with 75gal sump and 60gal ref. This tank has been set up for less than a month and going through the cycle period and this skimmer is great. I like the double sedra 9000 pumps powering it and the skimmate is like black mud. I am pleased with the quality and simplicity of adjustment. Chris built my stand 38" tall so I can use it in my sump, but it would not fit under a standard stand. Height and footprint may be a deciding factor for you. I would recomend the ASM skimmers.

    Thanks Fisher12.
I think I will get the G5. I wish it was shorter but I have room since my sump is behind wall in small room.
I just bought a 100gal rubbermain stock tank to use as my sump. I was wondering if I should divide it into sections some how to add space for refug, or live rock, or what?

Currently I have an ecosystem 36"x8"x8" refug sitting above my tank. Do I need more?

    Thanks again

Maybe Blake (sdf beanhead ) will give his thoughts, he has a large sump as well as Chris. I think the larger the sump and refug the better the main show tank will be. Sounds like you have a nice set up. Maybe we can see it sometime.

If you get some high density polyethylene (HDPE) from ACI plastics in NLR you can make some baffels. It is the same stuff that you hard plastic cutting boards are made of.

  6. I really like Fisher 12 ASM, it seems so simple and works great. I can't see that the increased durability that you get with a Euro Reef is worth it, but I have only looked at both and never used anything but My Reef Creation becket injected skimmers.
