I've had a couple of aiptasia. One was on the surface of the rock and I scraped him off and burned the area of the rock where he was with a lighter. The second one was way up in a hole in the rock and when I tried to scrape him out he just retracted way back up in the hole. I stuck the lighter up in the hole (ran a pistol shrimp out) and burned till the rock got pretty hot.

Thought I had him but today (two days later) he's peeking out of his hole again. I'm afraid anything I try to zap him with he'll just retract back in his hole. Thought about ditching the rock but it's a big rock with several feather dusters on it. If I put it in the sump would it still be a threat to spread to the main tank?

I've had good luck using super glue to fill small holes when in your situation, it'll seal them right in

Just noticed that your in Conway as well. I have the Mojano wand that you can borrow for a bit. The needle is about an inch long so it can go into cracks to follow the aiptasia.

I may take you up on that Wylon if this afternoon's attack is unsuccessful!

  5. Mojano wand works very nicely, so does a hypo(24 guage needle)full of Calcium Hydroxide (3cc). The latter works best on larger aiptasia.

I've been thinking of ordering berghia nudibranches.
    Those usually knock'em out.

Calc paste or pickling lime in a syringe is the way to go... Turn off all your pumps and just inject. It may take a while to get them all but nothing is fast in this hobby. Plus, its fun.
